Mrs. Reader

Welcome to Mrs Reader's 8th Grade Physical Science Class
A little bit about me:

I was born and raised in Sunbury. I am the youngest of four children. I have two sisters and one brother. Growing up I attended Beck elementary and Sunbury Middle School. I am currently married to my husband Charlie Reader. We have been married since 1996. I have one son, Cj.  He is 21 years old and is a Senior in college. He is attending Wilkes University studying to be an Electrical Engineer. I have one dog and two cats. During my free time, I love to read and scrapbook. I am an avid sports fan. I love my Shikellamy Braves of course, but I also like The New York Yankees and Washington Redskins. I have always wanted to be a teacher. Ever since I was in middle school it was the only profession I ever saw my self in. I attribute that to my 6th and 8th-grade science teacher Mr. Snyder. He showed me how much fun science class can be and I hope to pass that same love along to you.

I graduated from Shikellamy in 1991. I then went on to attend Cedar Crest College, an all-girls private school in Allentown PA. I graduated from Cedar Crest in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in General Science.

My Career:
I am so excited to be sharing this school year with you. Watching you learn and grow as a student is going to help make this an amazing year.  My teaching career started in 1995 when I took a job in Cecil County MD. I taught there for three years and temporarily took a leave of absence from teaching until I moved home in 2000 and got a job teaching in the Shikellamy School District. From 2000 until 2013 I taught in the Shikellamy High School. Starting in the 2013-2014 school year I transferred to the middle school where I have been teaching since. I love working with the 8th-grade team and can't wait to see what this year brings our way.

In addition to teaching science, I am also the Advisor for the Builder's Club and the Key Club. Both of these are community service organizations to help make a difference in the world around us. Builder's Club is for middle school students and Key Club is for high school.
