Mrs. Jessie Williams - 7th Grade Math

Dear Parents/Guardians of 7thgrade math students,

Welcome to another school year!  I would like to take just a minute to introduce myself.  My name is Jessie Williams. I was born and raised in St. Mary's, Pennsylvania.  I graduated high school at Elk County Catholic High School.  I am a 2008 graduate of Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.  I am certified to teach 7th through 12thgrade mathematics.  I completed my masters in Teaching and Learning through Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in August of 2013.  This is my 12th year as one of the 7th grade math teachers with the Shikellamy School District. My husband Dan and I have two boys, Colton and Wyatt.

This year we will continue to be working with the EnVisionMath series.  Eight topics will be covered.  Students will receive two workbooks.  They are called workbooks since students will be solving problems inside their assigned workbook. EnVisionmath2.0 has numerous resources on PearsonRealize.com. Your child will be given a username and password.  They can access videos and tutorials through this website on each lesson that is covered. We will be using Google Classroom for bellringers, classwork, and tests/quizzes. Please ask your child to show you this once they have been logged in successfully at school!

Once again, I will be using an app called Remind.  This app will allow me to send text messages to students and parents.  I will use this to remind students/parents on homework assignment due dates and when a test/quiz is expected.  No one's phone number is shown through this app.  The app does not share any phone numbers.  I will not know your phone number, and you will not know mine.  The directions for setting this up will be given to your child on the first couple of days of school.  I also have a link attached to my website that gives details/instructions for set up.

This is going to be a great year for your child!    My job this year will be to help your child reach their potential in mathematics.  In our classroom, there will always be an open door for students to discuss problems or misunderstandings with me.
